Airport History

The operation of Government owned Mytilini (Lesvos) Island International Airport "Odysseas Elytis", is began on 1948 with a sand and ballast made Runway 1200 x 32 m.

On 1965 the building infrastructure of airport had a total surface 368 m2. Today, the Runway has a length of 2400 m and a width of 45m and the building infrastructure of airport has a total surface 2000 m2.

The first charter flight touch down on 1980.
