![]() The gateway to the Rockies, Rocky Mountain House, ("Rocky"), is located at the junction of Highway 11 (east-west) and Highway 22 (north-south). It is 85km west of Red Deer, 229 km Northwest of Calgary, and 225 km southwest of Edmonton. The Rocky Mountain House Airport is only 7 kilometers (4.5) miles from town. The airport is a bomber base for Alberta Forestry (Sustainable Resources), and serves as a point of call for commercial, corporate, and general aviation. A prosperous growing community with over 11,000 area residents, Rocky is a major center for timber, agriculture, and oil & gas enterprises, as well as being a gateway to the breathtaking recreation areas of the Rocky Mountains.
