Services
at Cooking Lake Airport include flight training schools,
charter services and aircraft maintenance and repair establishments. 100LL
fuel is also available. Used primarily for privately owned float planes
and small, wheeled aircraft, the facility is equipped for VFR day/night,
with a rotating beacon, Visual Approach Slope Indicator System (VASIS)
and Aircraft Radio Control of Aerodrome Lighting (ARCAL).
One of
the most unique features of this facility is that it is Canada’s only
“bare land condominium airport.” The owners of the hangar lots comprise
the Cooking Lake Condominium Association. Future lots will be eveloped.
The Only
Wheeled and Float Plane Airport in the Region, Cooking Lake Airport is
situated at the northwest corner of Cooking Lake. This facility has one
paved runway (2960 feet x 75 feet) and a float plane facility that includes
two launch ramps and 20 floating docks. The airport also has approximately
74 condominium subdivided lots
and 75 aircraft tie-downs.
