Moranbah was established in 1970 as a dormitory town for mines at Goonyella
and Peak Downs. Today it is a hub of activity servicing local coal miners.
Moranbah is situated approximately 200 kilometres south-west of Mackay.
The townsite was originally part of the Moranbah holiday area of which
11750 acres have since been added. The town boasts good shopping facilities.
